14 weeks-hello 2nd trimester!!!

Welcome to the second trimester! This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb. Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him -- a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb. In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches -- about the size of a lemon -- and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces.

Happy Thanksgiving

Since we wont be around tomorrow I thought I would do the post a little early. We are heading to see my family in the morning and then his family tomorrow night and spent the rest of the week there before heading to MSU on Saturday for the Egg Bowl and hopefully for the baby's first win in person, we will see:)

This Thanksgiving really has brought a whole new meaning to life. Last Thanksgiving and Christmas I just remember saying I have to go through yet another holiday season without being pg or a baby. I must admit its hard through the rest of the year but the holidays are much tougher. This year Im so blessed to have a wonderful husband who is just as excited about our baby who is making me extra hungry and growing away as much as my tummy has grown but its very exciting. Im blessed to have family and friends who have been supportive through our rough and down times to get to experience such a wonderful blessing.

This Thanksgiving Im reminded of Gods precious miracle he has blessed us with and all the moments of hurt and pain are worth everything for our precious one. Even when I felt some days God had given up on us he had his perfect plan that we are so blessed with.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow!

13 weeks-2nd trimester coming soon!

Fingerprints have formed on your baby's tiny fingertips, her veins and organs are clearly visible through her still-thin skin, and her body is starting to catch up with her head — which makes up just a third of her body size now. If you're having a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Your baby is almost 3 inches long (the size of a medium shrimp) and weighs nearly an ounce.

Telling my students...

Just for a catch up for anyone who has just tuned in-I teach Hi.gh Sc.hool students and I waited until this week to tell them.

How it all happened...
So my student (remember the one that constantly asked me all the time?!) Well the other day (Tuesday) she kept on saying I just know you are pg, just know it. I said "I have a secret to share with you" I dont think Ive had kids pay so close to attention to every detail of what I said. I said yes you are right I am pg. The room got really quiet and I heard "no way, you are joking" I said nope Im not. Then the questions started rolling in
1) How far are you? I tell them 3 months and I thought I was going to literally have to pick their mouths off the floor. "You mean you have known and havent told us?" Yep
2) Have you been throwing up? Nope (They seem to think at first it happened first then after I said that they said oh I guess that happens at the end-I cleared that up quickly)
3) Do you feel differently
4) Once they figured out the due date-oh so are you going to be here in May or will we have a sub. No Clue we will see
5) How did you keep a straight face not to tell us?
6) Everyone has been talking about you and how several people thought you were pg but we couldnt ask and then be wrong
7) Can we babysit for you (I couldnt count the times Ive been asked this!)
8) Can we have a baby shower for you (please, pretty please..haha)
9) What are you having (when I said not sure oh when will you find out)
10) Will you name your child after me and (friend in the class) since we are such good kids.

These are the main questions, seems like there has been more but now my brain seems to draw a blank.

In other news-I have had 3 baby showers in 2 week! Good gosh I dont think Ive ever had so many

Our neighbor had her child today so excited for them, they had a little boy!

Last, one of the girls I work with ended up being put on bedrest today and I found out today from her sister who also works at the school that if she doesnt have the baby by Tuesday then she will have her then. Im so excited for her and her husband!

12 weeks-under 200 days to go!

The most dramatic development this week: Reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won't be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder. From crown to rump, your baby-to-be is just over two inches long (about the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce.

Under 200 Days

I cant believe it we are now officially under 200 days..wow! We started out with our 250 days and the days have gone by so quickly. It is exciting to be under 200 days now and now when Im under 100 days I may start freaking out a bit because I havent been around a newborn in quite a while.

Travel System/Playard

We have decided on the Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller - DiscoveryThe reason we decided on this we like the colors, its gender neutral so for our next child if its the opposite sex we can still use it so its perfect! They have a great deal they are running right now at Babies R us where its $100 off if you buy 3 pieces which we will need all so we are thinking about it.

Matching Playard

I cant wait to buy it all for our little one:) If you have anything to say for or against Chicco please share I would love to hear thoughts

Baby Growing strong!

Baby is growing strong! Today was absolutely beyond miraclous and has truly shown me what a miracle this baby is. The baby's hb is 160 and she measured again (just for fun) and it was 164. Im measuring 3 days ahead at 11w5d. We were told we have a wild child since the baby was trying to run from the part that catches the hb, it was rather funny I must admit-a wild child at 11weeks, I cant imagine what it will be like when it starts moving and I get to see it. I seriously could have watched it all day it was just AMAZING. I couldnt believe how much the baby was already moving. I dont think I was really expecting it to be moving and so quickly already...WOW!

Our next appt is Dec. 21 (we will be out for the holidays then) and we get to find out whether we will be buying pink or blue I absolutely cant wait. Its just so miraculous to see this little baby that has been formed in my belly by God. I just cant believe it.

Afterwards we went by Babies R Us I think for maybe like our 3rd trip this week..haha! We looked at strollers and just everything. I think we have finally come up with which one we want I cant wait to actually buy it, but it will probably be after the first of the year.

For the $5 camcorder....
We have an Ame.rican Ex.press card that we have had for quite some time that we have to pay off each month (cant carry a balance). Well we have wracked up points to get the camera (& still have lots more left) and decided what better way to use them but to buy a video camera. Well we had to actually buy it through De.ll (in order to use the points) and well long story short they screwed up and we didn't have to use any points at all due to their screw up. So it really was $5 because we got extra stuff. So now we have the points and the camcorder to use on something else. It really is a great thing with the card because you get free stuff for things you would pay for anyway so it does add up quickly. I mean how could you resist free stuff? I must say though you do have to be disciplined in order to do it because you cant carry a balance.

Last but not least Saturday is the big game in Starkville, MS (MSU vs. Alabama). They always have a close game no matter how bad we have been so hopefully it will be the same. Ill hope for a win but not thinking its very likely.

First BIG Purchase

Well we ordered the first BIG baby product and we got it in today. We got a JVC Everio G all for a grand total after everything of $5...yes $5! Retail on it is $379 so a big difference. Now we have a video camera for our baby..yeah! we got this particular one because we have an Mac (Apple) and it seems to work well with it and some cameras dont so well definitely give it a test and see if it holds true.

I also broke down and bought a pair of maternity jeans from Mother.hood Mater.nity and they are absolutely the most comfortable things I have ever put on my body...wow talk about comfort! My khakis and dress pants still fit me but Im sure by Christmas Ill be making a repeat trip. Our trip was wonderful and the sales rep was absolutely the most kind helpful person I have seen in a LONG time! We both felt so at ease and she answered any questions as well.

Next purchase maybe a doppler-for anyone who has had one is it worth it?

Last-I still havent told my students yet and not sure when I will tell them, probably after Thanksgiving and Ill be in my 2nd tri. We have this week and next week and then its Thanksgiving break I cant wait! 7 more school days and counting!

Tomorrow we get to see our baby cant wait!

11 weeks-almost under 200 days to go!

Your baby, just over 1 1/2 inches long and about the size of a fig, is now almost fully formed. Her hands will soon open and close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear under her gums, and some of her bones are beginning to harden. She's already busy kicking and stretching, and her tiny movements are so effortless they look like water ballet. These movements will become more frequent as her body grows and becomes more developed and functional. You won't feel your baby's acrobatics for another month or two -- nor will you notice the hiccupping that may be happening now that her diaphragm is forming.

10 weeks-25% baked!

Although he's barely the size of a kumquat -- a little over an inch or so long, crown to bottom -- and weighs less than a quarter of an ounce, your baby now has completed the most critical portion of his development. This is the beginning of the so-called fetal period, a time when the tissues and organs in his body rapidly grow and mature. If you could take a peek inside your womb, you'd spot minute details, like tiny nails forming on fingers and toes (no more webbing) and peach-fuzz hair beginning to grow on tender skin.

Funny Conversation...

So I have one student who has been constantly "are you pregnant, are you pregnant?" and I just really laugh it off and have fun joking around with her. well the story today was rather funny just thought I would share...

Background-they have to give a mot.ivational sp.eech in class (I bet you couldnt guess which one, right?!)
Student-I decided what I want to do my speech topic on-how you are going to get pg
Me-That is not an approriate topic now (laughing that she really thought it was)
Student-but I think you really need to know
Me-Im sure you can find another topic that is more appropriate
student-well you know I have really bad baby fever and I cant have a baby and you can so that means you need to get pg so I wont have it anymore (really laughing at this point-she is a senior in HS of course)
Me-so thats going to cure your fever how is that?
Student-well why dont you tell me your husbands name and I can email him and tell him that I want you to have a baby
Another student remembers his name
Me-well now you have his name
Student-Oh and I remember he works for the same district(she remembered the dept as well which was rather shocking) so I can just email him.

The conversation kind of ended there. I seriously have never laughed so hard, she is just one of those students that always has something funny to say. Kids can sure say the darndest things..haha

I did tell Chad if he gets some randomn email from a girl thats who it is. I doubt she will but I would find it even more hilarious if she did.
