Bittersweet

We had to do something today that I never thought I could do, but its amazing how motherhood changes your worldview.

We have had our pomeranian, Brownie, since she was a puppy. Now six years old, she has been there for the vast majority of our marriage. Unfortunately, she has not been the best of "big sister" to Morgan since she come home. She hasn't been overly aggressive, but Brownie is what you would call a hyper dog in a naturally hyper breed. Add the fact that this is a dog that has commanded a lot of attention over the years and has pretty much gone to "being fed" on the attention scale, and you see our dilemma.

I have been thinking about it for a while, and we discussed it over the weekend - maybe it was time to try to find her a good home, where she would get the attention she was used to and deserved. Chad put the word out, and there was a lot of interest. We ended up giving her to a nice local family with children and a male pomeranian. We have an understanding that if and when we are ready for another dog (when Morgan gets a little older), then we can get one of Brownie's puppies! How cool is that?

But still, it was tough to let her go, even though it was the right thing to do. I know that she's in a better place and there are some happy children playing with her tonight.

I'm sorry hunny, but you know in your mommy heart you made the right choice, for both your babies.

Sorry! You made the right choice though!! Thankfully my dogs have been nice to the baby but I always have to remember that they are animals and they could revert to scary behavior at any time.

Ohhh, I can imagine how tough this is for you all. But I'm sure it is a load off of your mind that Brownie is in a good home and has another little doggie to play with. Also, you don't have to worry about Morgan being safe in her own home.
