Glucose Results-PASS!

Well I got my results back from the glucose test and I PASS!!! For the results I failed the 2 hr test but you had to pass 2 out of the 3 test in order to be considered as passing the test and I passed the 1 hr and 3 hr so Im good to go. They did tell me that I just need to watch my carbs and sugars to moderate and make sure I dont go overboard but at least I passed!

Just for numbers-
Fasting was 94 (had to be 126 or less)-PASS
1 hr-182 (had to be 190 or less)-PASS
2 hr-177 (had to be 165 or less)-FAIL
3 hr-135 (had to be 145 or less) -PASS

For the 4-d ultrasound Little Morgan still didnt want to cooperate with us and while she was moving it just wasnt the right way. The ultrasound technician was so nice and has agreed to do it for the 3rd time free since she has not cooperated either time and we are doing it in the afternoon at our next appointment on March 25 (week from today) so hopefully she will cooperate I hope! She has gained another 2 ounces and is up to an even 3 and a half pounds.

3 hour Glucose Test

Well today was the glucose test I have dreaded for so long. Chad and I got to the check in right t 7 am, I got called back pretty quickly for the first blood draw which was right at 7:20 am. The first blood draw my blood sugar was at 94 and it had to be 126 or below so I passed the first test with flying colors. Had I not passed the first test the glucose test would have been canceled and I would have been sent home.

Then I had to drink the glucose drink (it was orange just like the first one) but it was super duper sugary with 100 grams compared to 50 grams of the first drink. I felt like I was about to puke it out but I told myself I had to hold it down. About 30 minutes later the nurse asked me if I needed some water-oh boy did I ever and it helped a tremendous amount-thank goodness for nurses who are understanding!

So I had to have my blood drawn 3 more times (9:06, 10:06, and 11:06) and also a urine sample each time (total of 4) which I still dont quite understand.

The worst part of it all was my right arm (had it drawn twice in each arm) would not allow the blood to come out and they had to twist the needle in my vein to get out. Yes talk about painful! The left arm seemed to cooperate very well though. Then the other part was the glucose drink I was feeling fine until I had to drink that horrible thing at 8:06 am.

My wonderful husband went to go get lunch right before I was about to get my last blood and urine sample and had it waiting on me which was wonderful.

Overall I dont think it was bad as I had imagined (not to say it was wonderful) but I never felt like I was going to pass out just a little yuck and a little hungry. The nurses were wonderful and so helpful and understanding on everything-oh and water was my lifesaver for sure!

The results are supposed to be back tomorrow I found out from the nurse at my doctors office so hopefully I will get a good result tomorrow!

Nursery pictures up next!

7 things

Well since I have been tagged twice for this by Sally and Nikki I guess I should fulfill the duty :) Bascially, I have to list 7 things that are going on with me right now! Life is super, super busy with a baby on the way and then also with Spring Break this week as well.

1) Tomorrow is the big start to the nursery I absolutely cant wait! The painter is coming first thing in the morning and then let the fun start. Everything got moved out of the nursery and is in the middle of our living and dining room area until they are finished but I cant wait to see it all finished!

2) Tuesday we get to see little Morgan for the 4-d ultrasound I absolutely cant wait to see if she will cooperate or not with us I sure hope she will so we can get a good close up of what she looks like. She has been so stubborn lately that Im wondering if she will cooperate in the same manner she has and put her hand over her face so we cant see her-such a silly little girl!

3) This week will be major cleaning/getting things together and making sure every little spec is cleaned and organized because I know this will be the last opportunity we will have to get it all done before she comes. I really cant believe that if she came when she was full term (37 weeks) she could be here in 8 weeks, time is passing quickly.

4) Wednesday morning at 7 am I go to do my 3 hr glucose test I am not looking forward to it at all. The more people I talk to the more common Im seeing it but it doesnt make it any better. A girl at church who is also pg and due a month after me told me that with her first child she was 40 pts over for the 1 hr test and still passed the 3 hr test so that makes me feel a little better but Im really not excited at all about doing it and fasting for what will be an entire almost 12 hrs by the time Im finished. I just hope I pass!

5) we start our birthing classes a week from tomorrow. I still cant believe that it could be so close but Im definitely looking forward to it and maybe it will help me relax maybe just a little or at least feel a little more prepared. Ive started looking at all kinds of labor stories and it makes me a bit nervous for certain. I dont worry about being a mom or anything like that I just worry about labor like crazy (especially getting closer to the end). I keep getting told over and over that its really no big deal but well see soon enough.

6) My plan for Spring Break is to plan out the rest of the school year in case I end up going early or for any reason have to be put on bedrest (I sure hope not!!). I think getting it all planned out would make me a little nervous about things.

7) Ive come to the conclusion that our little pup Brownie must be really starting to realize something is going on. She has been up to my side and my little shadow like never before. She is also a lot more careful around my baby bump. A few weeks ago she would jump right on my stomach and I would have to catch her from not hurting me but maybe she is starting to get the point. I think she is also starting to figure out (maybe) that she wont be the baby anymore and a new addition is coming soon.

Now Im going to tag Dana, Rosie, Leah, Tina, Hannah, Megan, Heather
If anyone else would like to do it feel free to tag yourself :)

6th OB Appointment

FAIL....Yep thats the results of my glucose test I just cant believe it!!

I have tried to not eat any sugar, no carbs and I still failed the freaking glucose test by 5 pts! I had to have 140 and I had 145. I honestly dont know what I could have done differently quite frankly except just not eat.

So I get to go Wednesday at 7 am (the week of Spring Break) to go and get the 3 hr test so a lovely 3 hrs of my Spring Break donated to sitting in a doctors office...oh I just cant wait (hint of major sarcasm). I cant eat or drink anything after midnight or until Im finished its going to be really tough I drink so much water and always eat breakfast.

For the drink-it tasted like some serious sugar water. I just really dont understand it all. You drink this super sugary drink and are supposed to pass?? I really dont understand and I guess never will I guess.

Then as well as testing your sugar level they also test your iron level and my iron level was too low so I get to take medicine for that too. Mine was 10.4 and its supposed to be 11-14.

Then after getting all the news I get a lovely rhogam shot that stung like something else, it didnt hurt as much going in but whatever is in it, oh my it just start burning.

Morgan is doing fine though, hb was 142 and Im measuring right at 28 weeks. We get to start going to the doctor every 2 weeks from here on out, cant believe its already time for it.

Advice from moms and mom to be's

So I have my glucose test on Thursday and just wondering for those that have done the test what do you recommend for eating? I know no fruits or straight sugars but what about carbs, etc?

In totally unrelated would this really work or be worth the money for any breastfeeding moms
