After her shots-wanting to sleep
Morgan now weighs 9 lbs 13 oz, 22.5 inches long, and 39 cm head
While we were at the pediatrician's office our pediatrician wanted us to get a second opinion on her hemangioma which is a birth mark that is on her nose. Normally they clear up by a year old but the reason she was a little more concerned with it was because it was on her nose and she didnt want it to block her airway of breathing.
You can tell right on the tip of her nose-it looks like it is bruised
It just happened that the specialist had a cancellation this morning and we got in today to see him. The specialist wanted us to go see a pediatric specialist and they are supposed to call us tomorrow or Friday to let us know when we will go meet with them. The specialist wasn't too concerned at this point but if it gets too much larger since its actually under the skin it could eventually block her passage and she could have surgery. Anyone ever had one??

Glad her shots went well! It's always so much harder on the parents than on the kids.
Jenn's (from the message board) little girl Mya has a birthmark right by her eye. I know they've had to get a couple steroid shots for it, but it's slowly getting smaller. Hopefully Morgan won't need any surgery or anything for hers!
Two friends of mine had kids with hemangiomas on their faces. One had a large one on her eyelid that was causing her to keep her eye closed. She was treated with steroids and a blood pressure med (which was to help reduce the blood supply to the hemangioma) She is now 7 months old and it is barely there.
Another one had a hemangioma that looks more like Morgan's and it was on her cheek. I believe that they did laser treatments to help reduce it. I know it is still there (and she is about 20 months) but it has reduced over the past 6 months.
Wade had 3 that went away (one on his arm, one behind an ear and one on the ear). They were small and red.
I talked to the mom that has a daughter with a hemangioma on her cheek that looks like Morgan's. She said the the laser treatments were for something else. They ended up doing steroid injections in to the Hemangioma. It didn't reduce it, but it did keep it from getting any bigger and affecting her eating etc.
Isn't it great how quickly babies forget about pain? She's is such a cutie.
I wish I could help you on the scar, but I haven't heard anything about them. I pray the Dr. has a good solution.
