Travel System/Playard

We have decided on the Chicco Cortina Travel System Stroller - DiscoveryThe reason we decided on this we like the colors, its gender neutral so for our next child if its the opposite sex we can still use it so its perfect! They have a great deal they are running right now at Babies R us where its $100 off if you buy 3 pieces which we will need all so we are thinking about it.

Matching Playard

I cant wait to buy it all for our little one:) If you have anything to say for or against Chicco please share I would love to hear thoughts

We have the same travel system, only in navy blue ("Manhattan"). We thought the same thing as you, to go gender neutral. Well, sort of; a lot of people did think C was a boy when they saw her in that car seat. But better a girl in blue than a boy in pink! :) But we've been impressed with the quality of the Chicco. Try to spring for the car seat that'll hold a 30-pound baby so you can use it longer. We had to give ours up not long after C's first birthday (hers was only meant for up to a 22-pounder; I think they came out with the heavier-capacity seat right after we got ours). And get (or register for) an extra base for a second car; it will come in handy. We still use the stroller. Chicco replaced a wheel for us for no charge even though it was our fault it got damaged.

Can't vouch for the playard, though. If you want it and the travel system to match, great. Just remember that they'll rarely be in the same room at the same time, so for aesthetic reasons, it really doesn't matter. That being said, the Graco playard we bought secondhand is also navy blue. ;)

What a beautiful set! I also like the playard a lot! I have nothing but good things to say about Chicco. My sister used that brand for all of her babies...the same carseat lasted 5 years!

Britax Chaperone Stroller - Cowmooflage is the set that I'm getting our baby. It is so cute!

Here's my take on it... anyone I know who has a travel system, ends up disliking it for some reason or another eventually... They're bulky, big, steer awkward or whatever. Here's what we did... universal car seat carrier (these are always popping up on our craigslists for $20) http://www.amazon.com/Kolcraft-Universal-Infant-Seat-Carrier/dp/B001FCM24E/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=baby-products&qid=1258424114&sr=8-2

Then we tested out all of the smaller/lighter weight strollers at babies-r-us once we had Laura to test them. I remember we tried Jeep and Chicco ones and they both steered terrible and felt cheap. The strollers really do steer differently when you have an actual child in them... we bought a quest sport maclaren and have LOVED IT! It's very lightweight, very easy to steer even with 1 hand and just great all around.
As for the carseat itself... Ours goes up to 22 pounds, and I am happy with that (even though there are 30 pound options out there). Laura is 28 pounds now and I can't imagine carrying her in an infant seat at this weight! OUCH! We stopped carrying her in the carseat when she was about 6 months old - and then transferred her to a rearfacing convertible seat a couple months later.

That's my input :)

I love our travel system. It's a Graco and I read a lot of complaints about it being heavy but I've never had any trouble with it. Maybe I'm a beefcake, LOL! I really don't find it heavy at all and I think it turns beautifully.

We got the matching Graco PNP that came with all these accessories like a changing table and a thing that vibrates the infant bed and plays music. It was a waste, we never used those parts. What we have used is just the basic PNP part. We haven't really used it too much either. Addison will hang out in it while we shower, just so we know she is in one spot, but other than that it's been a waste. When we travel we use the ones the hotels provide.
